May the Force be with You!

I may not look like it, but I absolutely love Star Wars. Okay so I don't really pay attention to the nitty gritty details like other Star Wars fans but I can say that I absolutely love the costumes and the set!  I can honestly say that this was actually part of my bucket list of party themes to do.

My client for this party was actually my very first client! My first event was a baby shower for the friend of my aunt and now that baby is 1 year old! :) So I was definitely ecstatic to work on this birthday party!

Simple centerpieces with Patrick's adorable pictures!

Goodie bags for the guests

My sister helping out. Everything is a family event for us :)
I had super fun making up names for the food on the buffet table!

A Star Wars party isn't complete without Yoda!

I made light sabers as part of their giveaways. By the way, these are my super adorable cousins :)

By far the most awesome cake I've seen!

Green Griffins!

At my old highschool, cheerdancing competitions were a big thing. Our cheerdancing competitions were quite different from the ones we usually see on television. We had a parade where you have the pep squad (the life of the team), the cheerdancers, the banner people, the flag people, the props people and of course leading the whole team is the team captain. So you have 300 people following 1 team captain. Since we were a very small school we were divided into 4 teams: Red, Blue, Gold and Green. So the moment you start school in the First Grade you are placed in a team until the day you graduate. The graduating batch is usually the one in charge of the parade- from the cheers, the dances, the witty moves of the pep squad, the costumes, the props. My sister, who was now part of the graduating batch, wanted me to help out so of course, I said yes! This was another shot of trying to beat the other teams. (yes I was that student always the eager beaver when it came to putting on a show.) They made me in charge of costumes so without a doubt I was going to do everything in my power to make these kick ass costumes.

My sister who always wanted to be the center of attention wanted to be a muse this year. There were 3: goddess of war, goddess of peace and the witch who summons both goddesses. Of course my sister wanted to be goddess of peace (haha!!)

I truly had so much fun putting these costumes together which made me miss high school all over again!

So yes, its been 5 years since I graduated high school but I fell in love with my team all over again. Once a griffin, always a griffin ;)

"A person is a person no matter how small!" - A Dr. Seuss Baby Shower

Dr. Seuss books were always my favorite growing up. The tongue twister rhymes and the vibrant images make it all the more entertaining to read. It was such a pleasure styling this baby shower for three wonderful mothers!

Little favors for the moms and moms-to-be!

Mary Anne's Princess Party

This was actually one of my favorite parties to style. The client basically left me in charge of all design aspects. To the Chinese, one of the most important milestones in a person's life is when they turn 7 so this party was HUUUGE. Guests came in gowns, little girls were dressed up in their ballgowns and little boys came in tuxedos! To match the princess theme the venue was at the Makati Shangri-la.
I wanted the guests to feel as if they were entering a story book so I placed A HUUGE book in the entrance with some of the lines from Cinderella. Initially, I wanted to make the entrance of the ballroom a huge book but on the day itself, it was too difficult to make the book slip into the doors. Last minute we decided to just place it right across the registration table so guests would automatically see as they descend the great spiral staircase.
Just like in all the fairytales we read as a child there is always a forest that the hero/heroine has to pass through so it was just natural to make the guests pass through a forest before reaching the castle.

I had white glittered trees with signs from different fairy tales like Alice in Wonderland and...

....and Tangled! The party coordinator specifically told me that she really wanted to have different stations for the kids to go to so they won't easily get bored. So what better place to have the activities but the forest!

Here are a few of the activities:
Enchanted Storytime Forest

The younger kids who couldn't do the arts and crafts or the science stations had an something to do too. They could sit and relax on the pillows and read storybooks
This station was a great hit! The kids were practically lining up for the Potion making station!! They made some grossss OOBLECK!
I wanted it to look like an apothecary so I got jars of different sizes and shapes and odd bits and pieces from around the house, made some labels and poof a potion making station! This was definitely one of my favorite stations to make!

Potion Book!

After making potions, the kids could bring home a copy of the procedure so that they could make it at home as well!

Dress up place right before having your picture taken. We placed in crowns, swords, shields  everything that would make you feel like royalty!
Photobooth
As they pass through the forest, they finally enter the ballroom where there is a huge mural of a castle of a princess!
