"A person is a person no matter how small!" - A Dr. Seuss Baby Shower

Dr. Seuss books were always my favorite growing up. The tongue twister rhymes and the vibrant images make it all the more entertaining to read. It was such a pleasure styling this baby shower for three wonderful mothers! 

Little favors for the moms and moms-to-be! 

Mary Anne's Princess Party

This was actually one of my favorite parties to style. The client basically left me in charge of all design aspects. To the Chinese, one of the most important milestones in a person's life is when they turn 7 so this party was HUUUGE. Guests came in gowns, little girls were dressed up in their ballgowns and little boys came in tuxedos! To match the princess theme the venue was at the Makati Shangri-la. 

I wanted the guests to feel as if they were entering a story book so I placed A HUUGE book in the entrance with some of the lines from Cinderella. Initially, I wanted to make the entrance of the ballroom a huge book but on the day itself, it was too difficult to make the book slip into the doors. Last minute we decided to just place it right across the registration table so guests would automatically see as they descend the great spiral staircase. 

Just like in all the fairytales we read as a child there is always a forest that the hero/heroine has to pass through so it was just natural to make the guests pass through a forest before reaching the castle.

I had white glittered trees with signs from different fairy tales like Alice in Wonderland and... 

....and Tangled! The party coordinator specifically told me that she really wanted to have different stations for the kids to go to so they won't easily get bored. So what better place to have the activities but the forest!

Here are a few of the activities: 

Enchanted Storytime Forest  

The younger kids who couldn't do the arts and crafts or the science stations had an something to do too. They could sit and relax on the pillows and read storybooks

This station was a great hit! The kids were practically lining up for the Potion making station!! They made some grossss OOBLECK! 

I wanted it to look like an apothecary so I got jars of different sizes and shapes and odd bits and pieces from around the house, made some labels and poof a potion making station! This was definitely one of my favorite stations to make! 

Potion Book! 

After making potions, the kids could bring home a copy of the procedure so that they could make it at home as well! 

Dress up place right before having your picture taken. We placed in crowns, swords, shields  everything that would make you feel like royalty! 

Photobooth 

As they pass through the forest, they finally enter the ballroom where there is a huge mural of a castle of a princess!

For Halloween, he really really wanted to be a dragon. Specifically a blue and green dragon. So his mom asked me to make him a unique dragon headpiece!

A Pinwheel Wedding!

This was actually the very first wedding I styled. The location was extremely far (about 3 hours travel time) and we were crammed in a small car with 100 pinwheels, 100 bottles, bundles of flowers and whatnots. The reception was held outdoors so that meant setting up in the middle of a summer day. The venue had so many flowers and vines so there were quite a lot bees buzzing around us. People who know me would know that I AM DEATHLY AFRAID OF BEES. And the bees were not regular sized, these were MONSTERS. So setting up was a definitely a mission! 

The bride wanted a DIY look/scrapbook look for her wedding. She specifically wanted handmade pinwheels for centerpieces and ribbons strung up on all her wooden chairs.

At the end of the day I was pretty happy with the outcome, considering I had only 1 week of preparation for this. :) 

Patrick Nathan's Baby Shower

A year ago, right after my college graduation, I wasn't really sure of what I wanted to do (as is with every fresh graduate). One thing was for sure, I wanted to be my own boss. After weeks of really just bumming around the house, my aunt called asking me if I wanted to style a baby shower for one of her friends. The deadline was extremely tight but I figured, hey i wasn't doing anything anyways, so why not give it try? Besides, I really was getting tired of lying around and staring at the television. Though the budget wasn't much I gave it my best and here's what I came up with :) 

 Giant baby blocks were placed in the entrance of the venue.

Hi! I've recently been introduced to the world of blogging. Yes I know, I'm late but I'm slowly learning to be more tech savvy.
